Free App: Rope ‘N’ Fly

The folks at freeappaday.com are the same folks behind appventcalendar.com, where they gave away a free app through the month of December to count down days until the big mans arrival. With the success of that advent calendar, they have decided to extend this idea to everyday of the year. They gave away several quality apps during December that I gladly would have paid for, such as Cabby, Santa Trapper (which is now free) and Mini Squadron. Its a great way to discover new apps, which is exactly the idea. Beginning with January 18th, Rope’N’Fly kicks off the campaign. (more…)

Google Voice+PushMail+iPhone=Free Unlimited Texting

— updated 01.23.09

Since I got my Google Voice (GV) number I have been trying to figure out a way to utilize one of the best features of it with my iPhone, free text messages. Though as my mama always said, life is like a box of…wait wrong mama…there is no free lunch. Every SMS message that I forward from GV, either sent or received, I get charged by  those rat bastards AT&T . I know there are applications such as TextPlus, Jelly SMS or AIM, but with those applications the other person must have the same app in order for the text to be sent and/or received, plus I have to recondition people to send me a text via whatever app that I am using or some other hokey method that most people wont care to use. Lest we forget, I am cool because Google Voice is by invite only, and  I got one! I mean really who wants to download an app right away in an app store when I can get put on a waiting list for week. Also, how is Google to rule the world, if no one is willing to get their invite and NOT use the product I just waited a week to get and still dont know what to do with, but I digress. (more…)

It’s Still Alive!

The iControlpad is still alive, and I hope someone really pushes for this.  With Apples recent push with the touch as a gaming device, I hope they decide to travel down the path of making their own game pad.  Apple would have an instant hit on their hands if they decided to produce a docking station control pad, with dual analog sticks.  It would pretty much kill Nintendo and Sony.  Slap a battery pack into it as well, and I guarantee it would be the hottest selling accessory of all time.

iPhone OS biggest phone OS in the World

Found an interesting article over at Mac Rumors.  Seems AdMob and advertising company measures the OSes that hit their ads on the web.  The numbers may not be 100% accurate but I am guessing they probably trend pretty accurate.  I have no idea what the sample size for this company is over a month or how big their foot print is.  Apple took over the number 1 spot from Feburary to August. iTunes 9.0.1 was released today with some minor bug fixes. Per Apple’s release notes, it fixes bugs browsing the iTunes Store, performance issues where iTunes becomes unresponsive, problems when syncing Podcasts in play lists with iPhone or iPod, fixes the bug where iTunes unexpectedly quits, improves application syncing with iPhone and iPod Touch. The bug fix that raised my eyebrow is the bug in regards to the iTunes Mini Player. (more…)

Case Review: Incipio Feather

Incipio Feather $19.99

What can I say about the Incipio Feather other than it’s made of pure awesomeness. Really, they’ve corned the market on awesomeness when it comes to making a lightweight, hard plastic case that looks, and feels good. Nothing beats the feel of a naked iPhone, but as much as we all want to tote around the iPhone in it’s birthday suit (more…)
