Moxi Mate

Diego Inc. has released their companion to the Moxi.  The Moxi Mate allows you to stream your DVR’d content from your Moxi to any HDTV in your house.  They are offering both components for $999, and for existing Moxi owners they are selling the Moxi Mate for $199.  Now that is customer satisfaction.  The standalone price is $399

The day my Moxi arrived to my house I was like a kid on Christmas morning.  After it was all setup I felt liberated from the hell known as the ‘Comcast DVR’.  Their UI is smooth and by far the best I have seen.  And with no montly fees it is the best deal around.

I will be ordering up the Moxi Mate shortly and will review it more at that time.  But if it works even half as well as the Moxi does I will be exstatic.

Follow the link below for more info:

I know this has nothing to do with the iPhone but I put my Moxi on the same level as my iPhone.  They really nailed all my DVR desires in the Moxi.

iPhone GPS Navigation Fundamentally Flawed

Don’t get me wrong, I think having gps navigation on the iPhone is awesome, but it is seriously flawed without being able to run as a true background process on the phone.  Currently if you have to take a call, or browse another app it would interrupt the gps application so you would no longer receive voice/visual prompts to help keep you headed in the right direction.

The most popular workaround I’ve heard to this problem (if you can really call this a workaround) is to simply decline the call if your truly worried about missing a voice/visual prompt.  While this solution may work in a lot of situations, the argument can be had that their are as many if not more situations that would require the use of the gps/phone at the same time.  Their is always the option of hacking your phone, and installing the backgrounder app to run background processes, but this would only apply to a very slim target audience.  You can also make an argument for just buying a separate gps device (which isn’t a bad idea since a lot can be had for sub $100 now), but that is old world thinking, when today it’s all about consolidation.
