Review: AlgebraPrep:Factoring App

Algebra Prep Icon

Algebra Prep $2.99

This application is aimed at primarily High School and Middle School Students. The app visually looks very good.  It has a clean professional look that you would expect from a major company with nice looking custom icons.  The app itself doesn’t have a lot of features bells or whistles, it consists of two areas, practice tests and minitests. The minitests are scored and the app tracks your high scores so you can see your progress. It is important to think of this application as a study aid or learning tool and not a game. This app something you will want to use to supplement a math class or book. The application is called Algebra Prep: Factoring and only covers that particular aspect of Algebra. I have not seen others in the Algebra Prep series but one would think they are coming.

First Augmented Reality App Released!

Metro Paris is the first augmented reality app to hit the app store. Finally an augmented reality app! Without a doubt augmented reality is just plain cool. To be able to see data points overlaid on your screen in real time is pretty awesome. What really makes this work is the digital compass included in the 3GS (sorry augmented reality apps will not work for 2G/3G/iPod Touch owners). (more…)

Algebra Prep $2.99

Update:  I did a review if you would like to see it go here.

Currently the Pearson Algebra Prep app is on the front page of the App Store.  Some of you may find this exciting or not.  The app costs $2.99.  I am toying with doing a review on this, it is just a bit expensive as I don’t need the app myself and my children are a loooog ways off from needing it.  I took a screen shot incase you still want proof later on. With iTunes 9 rumored to have app management and a link to a jail broken app that lets you do just this I thought I would try and find out just how many apps people have.  Take poll on the side bar. (more…)

Free Game, Free Music

I love great deals (as most people do) and I am frequent visitor of the Cheapskate. Today,(well technically yesterday) he tells us that by downloading Big Kahuna Reef for free, via Amazon, you will also get a free five dollar MP3 credit to use in the Amazon MP3 store. (more…)

Discovery App Free

Discovery App Free

The Discovery channel just releaseed their iPhone app. It has the full array of shows you would expect, MythBusters, Man Vs. Wild, Dirty Jobs etc.  The app includes  Video, TV listings, News, Photo Galleries and quizzes.  Additionally it also has links to buy their shows off of iTunes.  How useful is this application though?

Who Needs iTunes 9?

I’ve been waiting for 3.1 to come out before jailbreaking my iPhone again, but I think this might have just pushed me over the edge. It’s called Movement, and in a nutshell it’s an app that allows you to arrange your iPhone apps from your computer, but the catch is it only works on a jailbroken iPhone. Currently doing the cumbersome act of hold, wait for wiggle, then drag the stupid app across 8 flippin pages on your iPhone only have it push another app to the next page is getting old. I can tell you that me, and a couple of buddies have been talking about a feature like this from the time the App Store was birthed over a year ago, so a feature like this is a long time coming.  It has been rumored as of late that iTunes 9 may have a feature like this in the works, but it may be too little too late. Review: The Deep Pinball

The Deep Pinball .99

I wrote a review of Wild West Pinball a while back the same company has released their second Pinball game, The Deep Pinball.  The game has a lot more to offer than WWP and is in many ways the same game.  Game Prom has been good about communicating on their blog and even gave a few copies of the game away.    (more…)

Review: Beejive (iPhone IM client)

Beejive IM $9.99

Beejive has been on my review list for quite awhile now. Actually ever since they released the first version that was push notification compatible. I couldn’t help myself when I saw a twitter post saying it was released, so I instantly bought the app.  I was so excited to finally see a chat client with push notifications. I didn’t even wait for the early adopters to do the grunt work to found out how it handled the new push notifications system, which is totally out of left field for me, especially for an app that costs more than $.99. I figured what the heck, I’ll be an early adopter for once, and I have to say I’m haven’t been disappointed. Beejive is currently the my most expensive app I own on my iPhone at $9.99. (more…)
