Google Voice+PushMail+iPhone=Free Unlimited Texting

Since I got my Google Voice (GV) number I have been trying to figure out a way to utilize one of the best features of it with my iPhone, free text messages. Though as my mama always said, life is like a box of…wait wrong mama…there is no free lunch. Every SMS message that I forward from GV, either sent or received, I get charged by  those rat bastards AT&T . I know there are applications such as TextPlus, Jelly SMS or AIM, but with those applications the other person must have the same app in order for the text to be sent and/or received, plus I have to recondition people to send me a text via whatever app that I am using or some other hokey method that most people wont care to use. Lest we forget, I am cool because Google Voice is by invite only, and  I got one! I mean really who wants to download an app right away in an app store when I can get put on a waiting list for week. Also, how is Google to rule the world, if no one is willing to get their invite and NOT use the product I just waited a week to get and still dont know what to do with, but I digress.

Who Needs iTunes 9?

I’ve been waiting for 3.1 to come out before jailbreaking my iPhone again, but I think this might have just pushed me over the edge. It’s called Movement, and in a nutshell it’s an app that allows you to arrange your iPhone apps from your computer, but the catch is it only works on a jailbroken iPhone. Currently doing the cumbersome act of hold, wait for wiggle, then drag the stupid app across 8 flippin pages on your iPhone only have it push another app to the next page is getting old. I can tell you that me, and a couple of buddies have been talking about a feature like this from the time the App Store was birthed over a year ago, so a feature like this is a long time coming.  It has been rumored as of late that iTunes 9 may have a feature like this in the works, but it may be too little too late.

WTH – Power Management

What the hell Apple! What is wrong with you, and your overly weird denial of the iPhone’s crappy battery life? I mean we understand you don’t want battery life to suck, but it does when you start turning on all the fancy schmancy stuff like Wifi, bluetooth, email push, and push notifications. I have a solution I think you should really consider, it’s a little out there I know, but I like to call it SIMPLE USER MANAGEMENT. This idea revolves around the concept of letting the user manage their battery usage by giving them a simple way to access all the power hungry functions listed above in one place. This concept is hard to grasp I know, so I understand why you currently make us drill several layers deep into separate Settings panels just to get to these functions.

Google Voice Tips

The folks over at TheAppleBlog have posted a couple of tips to make your user experience easier for those of you who have a Google Voice Account. Many folks were quite upset over the removal of GV Mobile from the App Store (BTW, ATT has more or less placed the blame at the steps of Apple), but some took solace that its still available via Cydia.
